Most college students don’t know they can ask for additional financial aid.

SHSF built SwiftStudent to guide students through the appeal process.

During the COVID-19 emergency, SwiftStudent helped students with financial aid appeals, providing both factual information about eligibility and industry-approved template letters for submission. SwiftStudent remains available as a no-cost tool for students.

SwiftStudent's partners include leading higher education organizations across the United States.

How SwiftStudent Was Built

To build SwiftStudent, the SHSF team led more than 20 focus groups: 10 with students, 10 with financial aid officers.

We iterated on the text and design through direct engagement with our partners over four months.

SwiftStudent launched on April 15, 2020 — just as many colleges went into lockdown for COVID-19.
